The meaning and subsequent use of Tornado Emergency
So Birmingham has issued a tornado emergency with no apparent confirmation of a tornado (brief if at all), especially large and/or violent. I feel this is unwarranted. What are your opinions and is this term being overused and is going to lose some of its meaning?
P.S. Yes I am bored and want to get some action going on the board.

Re: The meaning and subsequent use of Tornado Emergency
I guess in certain cases it is used correctly, obviously Greensburg, when there are multiple spotter reports of a long-track large tornado.
I don't know of many other cases where it has been used except for maybe May 3rd. Today's use seems pointless and will just cause more problems than anything.
by the way, any confirmed tor's today? I've seen some window breaking hail reports.

This is a video from GA of an apparent tornado. Looks pretty stout! If the link does not work, it is WSB channel 2 in ATL.

No Crap! I'm amazed of the view as well. No trees, scud, or rain surrounding it.
